i love the idea that kids can change the way of a nation and the empowerment you get from reading the stories. i love this series just because how real they seem. Luke is seen as a hero to all the thirds, but in the last book you get to see how he feels about himself, and how he under-estimates his influence. Through out the series, you get to see how the characters look up to Luke and how each book winds it's way into the other. Not every book is told by him - just 4 of the 7 - and you get to see the story from three other characters who play important roles. The first book ends sad, but sets the tone and pace for the rest of the series. He thinks he all alone.until he finds Jen, a third like him. the main character, Luke, is a third child, and he must hide from the outside, cause the penalty for disobeying is death on the spot. A time and place where food famine has struck a country and has made it desprate so desprate that it bans couples from having more than two kids. it set in a different time, neither in the past, nor in the future, just a different time. This series is Amazing! I know it's pretty easy reading, but if you aren't too embarassed to settle for the medium font size i can promise you-you won't regret it.
